Why I’m Not Choosing Grove Collaborative

When I was a new mom, I craved for a toxic-free home but was completely overwhelmed with all the options out there. I did not trust marketing because so many companies are “Green Washing” (when marketing makes something look healthier but it is NOT). I just didn’t have the time to research every product and felt so defeated.

So, to the tired mom’s who are craving a toxic-free home too, this blog post is for you…

In my mailbox today, I got this very pleasant mailer advertising for Grove Collaborative (wow, even the name has a wonderful co-op appeal). It claims to be a “heathy home” subscription box. Hey! Doesn’t that seem easy and ideal?!

This service is exclusive to “brands that care.” They list Method, Burt’s Bees, Tom’s of Maine and Seventh Generation along with an offer for Mrs. Meyers. To any busy mom whose been exposed to a lot of marketing, this initially looks like a great lineup. But allow me to share some important information…

  • Burt’s Bees is owned by Clorox Company
  • Tom’s of Maine is owned by Colgate-Palmolive
  • Seventh Generation is owned by Unilever

I personally seek companies that I know I can trust. Companies that have always offered clean and healthy products without harmful ingredients. Unfortunately, Clorox and Colgate are not companies that I trust.

Need some more information?

Have you heard of the Think Dirty app? Download it now! You can scan barcodes of the products in your home to see how “Dirty” each product is. The app will break down the ingredients and their health impacts.

Let me share some examples of how the Think Dirty app has rated Meyer’s and Method…

Many moms often ask me what I prefer to use in my own home.  My personal preference for over five years now is doTERRA’s On Guard Concentrate.  It is (virtually) the only cleaner in my home (I make my own window cleaner).

WHY? Because it can safely clean the kitchen to the bathroom to any other hard surface in the home and doesn’t leave me gagging on harmful chemical fumes.

What’s inside it and why is it safe?   The powerful essential oil blend is combined with plant-based derivatives that provide a non-toxic and biodegradable way to clean and eliminate odors!

And as an added bonus, it is also gentle on my wallet.  With my wholesale discount, I can snag one of the bottles of concentrate for $14.50USD and make up to 12 bottles!

Want to grab your own bottle of doTERRA’s On Guard Concentrate while saving 25% with wholesale pricing? (no monthly orders required!) Visit here.

Knowledge is power. Educate yourself. Empower yourself with the tools to make informed decisions. You deserve a better toxic-free home so you and your family can live a long healthy life together.

Thanks for sharing this information! Do you have a clean brand you recommend? I’d love to know, definitely interested in clean products!

Hi Allison, I have been exclusively using doTERRA’s OnGuard Cleaning Concentrate for the last 5 years. A few tablespoons in a spray bottle of water goes a long way! I have different spray bottles with different ratios depending on what I’m cleaning (ie general cleaning vs bathroom cleaning). What I love is I am not choking on fumes of chemicals when using it. I can safely and confidently use it around my kids!

So what do you clean with?

Karol, Great question. I have fallen in love with doTERRA’s OnGuard concentrate. It’s safe and extremely effective in cleaning, and even more so, affordable with the wholesale discount! I just add a few tablespoons to a glass spray bottle and I can clean the WHOLE house! For glass, however, I like to use a vinegar, essential oil and water solution I make.

Hi Ashley – Johnson & Johnson is a different company than SC Johnson…

Jerome, I really appreciate your comment! It’s a major oversight on my part. I will update what I can.

Howdy would you mind stating which blog platform you’re working with?
I’m going to start my own blog in the near future but I’m having a difficult time making a
    decision between BlogEngine/Wordpress/B2evolution and Drupal.
The reason I ask is because your design seems different then most blogs and
I’m looking for something unique. P.S My apologies for
being off-topic but I had to ask!

Thanks for every other great post. Where else could anyone get that type of information in such a perfect way of
writing? I have a presentation subsequent week, and I am on the look for such info.
